# CACHAI: A Visualization Toolkit for Science (Cats Included) **Speaker:** Diego Beltrán • **Date:** 21-11-2025 ## When / Where Friday 21st, November at 11:30 am • Sala Seminario ## Abstract High-quality visualizations are essential for exploring and communicating astronomical data, yet building complex and highly customized plots can be time-consuming. This presentation introduces CACHAI (Custom Axes and CHarts Advanced Interface), a Python package designed to simplify the creation of unusual scientific figures while preserving full flexibility and publication-ready control. I will give a brief overview of how to install CACHAI, its main modules, and its design philosophy. The talk will then focus on two visualization tools currently implemented in the package: "Chord Diagrams", offer intuitive visualizations of correlations between parameters, we will see the basic usage, customization options, and real applications using chemo-dynamic data from Dantas et al. (2025). "Michinoff Faces", an ongoing work, encode multivariate data into expressive cat-like facial features. How would 3I/ATLAS look if it were a cat? We will see a demonstration of Michinoff Faces using published parameters for the interstellar objects 1I/ʻOumuamua, 2I/Borisov, and 3I/ATLAS. ## Files - Video: [video](https://youtu.be/SGc4N0DX6C8?si=C44uSc0Zdn_fKRM0) - Slides: [CACHAI.pdf](./CACHAI.pdf) - Notebook: [CACHAI_chord_diagrams.ipynb](./CACHAI_chord_diagrams.ipynb)
