# Galpak3D: A bayesian parametric tool for extracting galaxy parameters and kinematics from 3D Data **Speaker:** Fernanda Muñoz • **Date:** 03-10-2025 ## When / Where Friday 3rd, October at 11:30 am • Sala Seminario ## Abstract In this session, we will explore the use of Galpak3D, a software tool designed to extract galaxy parameters and kinematics from three-dimensional data cubes. The algorithm directly compares the data with a parametric model mapped in spatial (x,y) and spectral (λ) coordinates, using a Markov Chain Monte Carlo (MCMC) method to return the intrinsic model properties. We will demonstrate this process with a MUSE data cube, finding the best-fit kinematic parameters and exploring various configurations to enhance these results. Additionally, we will discuss scenarios in which this software is particularly practical within extragalactic astrophysics. ## Files - Video: [video](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7jAXbK5cBGw) - Slides: [Galpak.pdf](./Galpak.pdf)
