# PHotometric Analysis for Redshift Estimation (LePHARE): A Guide to Template-Based zphot and SED Fitting **Speaker:** Patricia Fort • **Date:** 14-11-2025 ## When / Where Friday 14th, November at 11:30 am • Sala Seminario ## Abstract The vast scale of modern astronomical surveys provides photometric data for billions of objects, making spectroscopic follow-up for every source impossible. Photometric redshifts (zphot) are therefore a critical tool for estimating distances and enabling large-scale studies of galaxy evolution and cosmology. This presentation introduces PHotometric Analysis for Redshift Estimation (LePHARE), a widely-used and robust software package designed for this task. We will discuss the practical steps of running the code, from input catalog preparation to interpreting the key outputs, such as redshift probability distribution functions (PDFs). ## Files - Video: [video](https://youtu.be/6_g-tZkCUrw?si=R5cbLVSOBKHDAcyu) - Slides: [LePHARE.pdf](./LePHARE.pdf) - Dataset and Scripts: [LePhare.zip](./LePhare.zip)
